Since 2021, Mandat des Jeunes Africains has brought together young people across the continent around a shared charter and a common ambition: taking Africa's future into their own hands.

Train, organize and mobilize African youth to collectively carry the mandate for the continent's development, through advocacy, civic education and field action.

The journey since 2021
2021
The idea is born
A collective of young people from 8 countries envisions a shared charter for African youth.
2022
Official launch
Mandat des Jeunes Africains is officially launched at the Pan-African Youth Forum.
2023
Continental expansion
25 national chapters open and the first regional advocacy actions take place.
2024
Institutional recognition
Observer status obtained with several regional youth commissions.
2025
40 countries and counting
The movement now brings together more than 12,000 active youth across 40 countries.
Governance
The movement is led by a Continental Committee elected every two years by national delegations. Each country has a chapter run by a national ambassador, responsible for coordinating local actions and representing the youth of their country within the movement's bodies.
The Mandate Charter
The movement's founding text, the Mandate Charter sets out the principles, commitments and accountability mechanisms that unite all members, whatever their country of origin. It is available for download in our Media section.
